Inspired by nature and mythology, my work weaves the fantastical with the relatable to create characters with a story to tell. I work mainly in graphite, but also ink, charcoal, and collage. I am entirely self-taught, and always striving to expand my horizons in terms of subject matter, medium, and technique.
BIO
I'm a scientist by training, and have worked in research and healthcare for over two decades. But during the covid lockdowns I rediscovered my love of drawing, having not picked up a pencil since my school days. I also began writing my first novel. This experience of creative freedom was both liberating and incredibly rewarding. After receiving positive feedback for my writing, as well as several commissions for small art works, I decided to take the exciting leap into a career as an illustrator, artist, and writer.
I am a huge fan of fantasy and science fiction, as well as Roman and Greek mythology. These offer constant inspiration for the fantastical elements of my work. I am passionate about creating characters that intrigue, that make you want to know more about who they are, and the world they live in. I work on a small and large scale, mostly in graphite, but also in charcoal and ink. I am currently experimenting with mixed media and collage .
